Daniel graduated from Basic Training in January.
We made the trip to Fort Jackson in South Carolina to attend the Ceremony. Nice trip except for the fact that the weekend of the graduation was the record cold temperatures in 15 years. Also ended up with about 4 inches of snow. That moved the ceremony indoors. The photo to the right shows Daniel receiving his Award for perfect PT Score. (Daniel is he white guy on the right)
Daniel had worked real hard at basic. He not only wanted to get a perfect PT (Physical Training) score, but wanted to score the highest out of all the 5 companies, (about 1,200 solders).
A perfect score would have been 300 points. Daniel not only was the only one to achieve the perfect score, his actual score was way above (327) as he had scored so high in Sit-ups, Pull-ups, and the Two Mile Run.

Daniel was activated "Full Time" and in March of 2004 was deployed to Iraq to search for the Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Daniel's reaction can be read on his face.
Boy... I sure hope he finds those WMD's.

This squirrel met his maker during Daniel's Senior Year.
Daniel was riding his bike through a residential area in Mena, and this particular squirrel thought it would be cool to try to jump through the front spokes of Daniel's rapidly spinning wheels (he was doing about 25 mph).
Daniel called and told me he had an accident. When the squirrel his his spokes it was carried rapidly up to his brakes where it became lodge between his rim and brake pad.
Not a pretty Picture... When Daniel described his accident and explained that he was OK, I yelled to Sue: "Quick Sue, get the camera... Daniel has had an accident." She thought I was nuts.
The squirrel was pronounced dead at the scene, and we laid him to rest on the front lawn from which he had darted.

Daniel bought a new Truck. It is a Nissan Frontier, 2004 model. He really loves his new truck. Does not stop talking about it. Wants to do nothing but be with his truck.
Daniel.... That is a very pretty Truck!
