2006 Update

Mena, Arkansas, December, 2006

This edition of the "Are the Kelsey's Home?" Newsletter is a cooperative effort by Susan and Mike.  Sue is now the main writer, taking over the job from Mike Kelsey as he had plumb run out of witty and inspirational tales to tell.  Mike has been demoted to Spell Checker, and Editor.  So, Sue apologizes now for the amateur attempts to produce this newsletter, but we are sure she will improve as time goes on.

The Year in Review

Justin- Slum Lord, Internet Gamer, Poster Child for Adult Hyperactive Disorder

Justin has taken up a new occupation "Slum Lord" in the neighboring community of Waldron, Arkansas.  Despite his father's advice to NOT get involved with such a project, he boldly went forward and purchased an old abandoned apartment in a very depressing little community of Waldron Arkansas.  Major renovation is required to bring it back to life.  Now the project's success depends on the whole family's efforts to revive the dilapidated structure as he had neither the skills, time, nor resources.  We are now several months into the project and now have 1 unit refurbished and rented, and another should be finished in just a week.  6 more units to go!  Mike serves as primary carpenter, with Daniel providing financial support and occasional labor, while Sue does Interior Decorating, and Brian… well the boys make him do all the dirty work.

Justin's longtime girlfriend "Jessica" got deported back to Bolivia, and current girlfriend Sara, lives in Farmington, Arkansas and is a student at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.  She is a big Hogs fan (Pig Sooooeeee) and is a legal citizen of the USA, so maybe Justin can hold on to her a little better.

Daniel- Student and Financial Supporter of the Waldron Slums

After Daniels return from Iraq, he has been enrolled at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, and is now in his Sophomore year with a Business Management Major and is a big Hogs fan (Pig Soooeeeee).  Daniel spends a lot of time with his girlfriend, Megan, whom he has been "Dating" for 1 ½ years.  Megan is also a student at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and is a big Hogs Fan, (Pig Sooooeeeee).  She is majoring in Fashion  Marketing.  They seem to have a very nice relationship going, and we have seen the "M" word bantered about, but they want to finish college first.

Brian- Part Time Student, Full time Internet Gamer.
Brian is going to College part time at our local Rich Mountain Community College in Mena.  He is part time student and "Full Time" internet gamer.  He is considering taking the local LPN nursing program next spring, but until then, he lives at home, (failure to launch syndrome is what it has been called).  He and his girlfriend, Heather, of almost 3 year seems pretty serious, and we are called "Mom and Dad" by Heather.  They are inseparable.   Heather is a Senior at the Mena High School and wants to also pursue a medical career, starting with massage and sports therapy.  We believe these two will be first to provide us with our grandchildren.

Mike- Husband, Father, Webmaster, Hang Glider Pilot, Racquetball extraordianair, and on-line Poker fanatic.

Mike continues with his Web Design and Web Hosting Business, "OmniArk Web Services, and continues to slowly grow his customer base.  When not at the computer, you will probably find Mike Hang Gliding if the weather is good.   Mike has also returned to playing racquetball, and loves to beat his wife.  He also spends a good amount of time in Waldron helping Justin with the apartment project.  He also spends an abnormal amount of time playing Texas Hold'em on the Internet.

Sue- Wife, Mother, Nurse, Racquetball player.
Sue has recently returned back to her job in Mena, and no longer has to make the long 77 mile drive to Hot Springs.  She now is back to Home Health Care Nursing, working 5 days a week, with some of the days being 12 hour days.  Although it is very busy right now, she is very glad to be back doing what she enjoys most.  For recreation she drives around trying to locate Mike after his hang glider flights, and plays racquetball every week and still can give Mike a good game.

The Kelsey Family would like to extend our
Best Wishes to you and your Family and Friends.
Have a Happy Holiday,

,
and a Happy New Year.

P.S.  If you know of anyone that would like to move to beautiful Waldron, Arkansas, we know of some really nice, recently renovated apartments that are managed by our Justin.  Manager/Owner of the Hearth Stone Apartments.
